Frequently Asked Questions
I purchased several pieces of outdoor furniture from American Casual Living this past summer for our screened porch. We have decided to move it onto our deck. Do I have to cover the furniture?
Carol G. Winder, GA
Although it isn't necessary to cover your patio furniture, we highly recommend you do. The materials used in the construction of our patio furniture are selected for their durability and endurance and will withstand the elements. However, as we well know in this area of the country, pollen season is fast approaching. Covering your furniture will not only extend its lifetime but also greatly diminish the maintenance required to keep it looking new.
We just moved to Atlanta. We have a beautiful outdoor living area and we want comfortable but durable outdoor furniture. What is the best type of outdoor furniture to use in this area?
Cindy P. Atlanta, GA
Firstly, welcome to Atlanta. We hope that you enjoy your new home.
You ask a great question that has many answers. No one type of outdoor furniture is typically considered to be “the best” type. Much depends on its intended use. For example, natural wicker performs best in a sheltered environment – sunroom, screened porch, etc. However, advances in outdoor fabric and heartier construction materials make much of today’s outdoor furniture eligible for use in any environment. Teak, Ipe and other oil rich wood products are better for humid environments. Iron products are heavier and very durable, but unlike wood, would prefer to be away from water. Resin, cast aluminum and extruded aluminum furniture do not rust and thus can be used virtually anywhere.
Cindy, we have a very experienced staff and we will be happy to offer a complimentary on-site visit to help you choose the outdoor furniture that is best for your environment.
I visited your web site but did not see the specific item that I was seeking? What are my options?

We own a house boat at Lake Lanier and have been looking for outdoor furniture for the upper level and for the rear sitting area. Does American Casual Living carry outdoor furniture for use on a house boat?
Joseph P. Dunwoody, GA
Absolutely. Given our proximity to Lake Lanier, furniture for house boats has become a specialty for American Casual Living. We routinely install outdoor furniture and other casual living accessories (Big Green Eggs, Saber gas grills, grill islands, customized umbrellas, outdoor cushions, outdoor fans, outdoor lighting, outdoor rugs, misting devices, etc.) on house boats, boat houses, boat docks, decks, and patios along the lake.
We are finishing a screened porch addition to our home. The weather has delayed construction and a spring completion is now probable. We want to go ahead with our outdoor furniture selection now. Can you store the furniture until our porch is completed? Many thanks.
Mary and Roger M. Atlanta, GA
Yes, we will be happy to provide storage in our secure central distribution facility in Suwanee, GA until you are ready to receive your outdoor furniture. Many of our customers are in a similar position to yours and we are presently storing their furniture pending completion of home improvement projects.
We recently purchased a vacation home in Mexico. We would like to purchase outdoor furniture for this home from your store at the Mall of Georgia and have it shipped to Mexico. Do you provide this service?
Trish A. Athens, GA
We do offer this service and we are very proficient at this type of transaction. For example, we have coordinated the shipment of a hot tub to Europe, furniture to Monterrey, Mexico, furniture to Ontario, Canada, and throughout the United States. Whatever the destination, we can help you get it there!
I need assistance with the replacement of slings for my Tropitone outdoor furniture. Where do I go?
Jim F. Braselton, GA
Jim, we offer this service. We can help with the following common issues: replace outdoor furniture slings, replace vinyl straps for pool furniture, repair synthetic wicker, touch up or refinish (powder coat) outdoor furniture, repair gas grills, tune up gas grills, and perform other similar services.
Can I really put cushions outside in the elements?
Mary G. Alpharetta, GA
Mary, great question – a question often asked. We recognize and respect that your purchase of quality outdoor furniture is an investment. For this reason, our buyers are careful to select products crafted from the very best materials available. Over the course of time, outdoor furniture materials and construction methods have advanced dramatically. For example, the development of fade and wear resistant acrylic fabrics - such as Sunbrella – and other synthetic materials infused with UV inhibitors enable year round use in virtually any outdoor setting.
Like everything else however, prolonged exposure to the sun and other natural elements may impact the appearance and comfort of your outdoor furniture. You can protect your investment and extend the life and natural appearance of your outdoor furniture by covering your furniture with weather resistant patio furniture covers. Heavy duty patio furniture covers take the beating the elements deliver while protecting your outdoor furniture investment. Patio furniture covers are a wise purchase – inexpensive, highly functional and stylishly designed to fit any type of furniture.
Mary, to answer your question more directly, yes you can put our outdoor furniture cushions directly in the elements and remain confident that they will perform as designed for a long time.
